Husbands Law School doubts
My husband is in his second year of law school and hasn’t been able to land an internship yet for the summer.
According to most people we have talked to, the internship between years 2 & 3 is a really important step.
He wants to go into a very niche area of law and is in the top 15% of his class, which he thought meant that he would have no problem finding an internship in his desired field, since there are several firms in our city with that specialty. He has gotten a few interviews that have ended in rejection and a couple dozen straight up rejections and he is getting very nervous.
His concern is that he won’t be able to land a job at all, which would be devastating to his mental health. (He went to law school after a year of rejections in the engineering field, which was also supposedly a “guaranteed job” after graduation.)
I don’t know if he can handle many more rejections and I’m getting scared, because now he’s thinking about dropping out of law school and I’m worried that we’ll go right back to where we were before he decided to go in the first place.
What do I do? I feel so lost and useless. Nothing I’ve said or tried has helped at all.
