How to set up bedrooms?

Question

3 bedroom house. Two larger bedrooms and one small bedroom that only really fits a full size bed and dresser.
7 year old boy (sorry, I should have added he has autism, that’s why we don’t want to put him downstairs)
4 year old girl
Won’t find out gender of this baby until birth (April) 
We have a finished basement but don’t feel comfortable putting our 7 year old down there and we don’t want to be on a different level of the house from the kids. 
We’re thinking put the 7 year old in the smallest room, 4 year old will share room with baby (will stay in our room until 1 year) 
Is this the best option regardless of gender of our third?

I think that’s probably the best idea to start given the seven year age gap between your oldest and the baby. Then if the new baby is a boy, perhaps in a few years, your oldest will want to move down to the basement￼ 🤷‍♀️

Personally I'd put my 7 year old in the basement if there's a place that can become a bedroom. 7 is pleanty old enough to be on a different level. We're currently looking at building a house after we sell this one where all of the kids will be on the 2nd floor and we'll be on the main floor. I don't particularly want to be on the same floor as my kids. Mine are younger than yours, but we truely hate our bedroom being right next to our kids' rooms.
