I’m looking for some advice with my child.

He’s 3 and half years old.

He’s been in nursery for 1 year.

He didn’t start speaking until about 9/10 months ago and that was only the odd word here and there. He still can only say single words. Not sentences. The most he can say is 2 words together. Eg: big car.

We’re still waiting for speech and language, it’s been 8 months already and I called recently which they said he’s been put on a new referral list and it’s a long list. So longer waiting. Which is understandable. I’m trying flashcards, wall posters, reading before bed/during the day.

Recently his behaviour is changing. I have noted things down as they have become more repetitive/noticeable. - which I will add my list for you to read.

He is now hitting his younger sister, myself(mom), his nana, his dad. He has never hit anybody before until a few weeks ago. He seems to do this when he is asked to share(he was very good at sharing up until a few weeks ago) or he does this when he is overstimulated.

His speech I personally think is slowing down. He’s now babbling like a baby and not using his words as much.

I have noticed he is not making eye contact anymore.

He use to be so so good at following instructions and listening. Now he isn’t at all.

He is always falling over-at school or home. He is seeing a physiotherapist for an assessment soon to make sure his legs are okay as he wakes up crying in pain with his legs and it keeps him up for hours.

I have contacted his nursery about my concerns and they say they have no concerns with him. Only that ‘he’s quiet which is to be expected because of his transition into a new class’ (he started in January).

I feel like a terrible mum and I can’t understand why he’s suddenly acting out. Any ideas? Advice?
