Doctor refusing treatment options
Hi all,
Just wanted to hear if maybe I'm being unreasonable.
TTC seven years, hostile uterus, bilateral proximal blocked fallopian tubes. Had a failed laparoscopy in 2022 (didn't manage to unblock the tubes, managed to clear a bit of one but not enough for the HSG to show as clear).
My fertility doctor is telling me IVF is the only way. The absolute only way. I however showed him not one, but two studies showing Lupron has been successfully used to help unblock tubes. He says the studies are too old for him to feel confident going this route (they're from the early 2000s, fine I understand that).
However, I showed him a study from last year showing really positive results from tubal cannulation/ recanalization, and he is refusing to write me a referral to the only clinic in the entire country that offers this procedure. I don't understand why because it's not a rival fertility clinic or anything - the procedure is done by Radiologists, and if they manage to clear the tubes we'd still go back to the him for a IUI (on account of the hostile uterus).
Am I wrong to feel that he's pressuring me into the IVF (which would cost us all our savings)? And he told us the success rates for IVF is 49% but all the research I'm reading shows otherwise.
Should I rather just go see the doctor who did the Laparoscopy and ask her for the referral? She doesn't do anything fertility related, I went to her because I was told she's the best for a Laparoscopy. Or should I just find someone completely new?
Thanks.
