My bf doesn’t like me sharing much about his life with my family/friends

Title says it all. He says it’s a privacy/trust thing.

A few things he’s asked me to not share: that he co-owns an airbnb, that he got a 2 week work gig in his field of study, that he’s looking for a job, and that he was planning a trip to Dubai. I’m strictly ‘forbidden’ to mention this to anyone, even if they ask something like, “how’s *my bf* doing? What’s he’s doing for work?”.

I feel awful having to defect and lie to family and friends. I don’t get it. I think it’s an insecurity thing, but it’s really odd to me and I feel uncomfortable because I am so worried something will accidentally slip.
