Is this braxton hicks?

Hi ladies I’m currently 39+2 and this morning I lost a little bit of my plug. I’d say it was literally a finger size bit of it. Went on with my day no contractions and no more plug. I’ve just literally started with a full belly ache, it is exactly like period pains. Completely manageable, the pain comes for literally a minute then disappears for quite a while on and off.
I’m in the UK so can’t phone hospital until contractions start or water breaks. I’m a FTM and wondering if these pains are braxton hicks or start of labour and with losing a little bit of my plug, do you think something could happen tonight?

if they’re painful or become painful then I would say they’re the start of contractions! BH typically are just an uncomfortable tightening feeling. good luck!!

That’s how my labor started with my second. I was 39w6d and it started with mild cramps that I barely noticed in the late afternoon until I realized they were coming and going. Eventually I started timing them later that night. I had my baby girl the next day. Just watch to see if they get more frequent and if the pain gets more intense. Best wishes!

Sounds like it could be the start, just make note of the pain, how long it lasts and how often. If it does get worse or even now still call triage and let them know, they’ll tell you whether to take paracetamol (their fave thing to say) and a bath and see how it goes from there. Or they’ll tell you to go up. Also U.K. here.
