Progesterone shot

I don’t know if anybody else experienced this. But every time I take my progesterone injection after we remove the needle I start bleeding. Is this normal? Or does this mean we are putting it in the wrong place?

Are you doing it ON your buttcheek or kinda above it? I tell my patients to draw an imaginary line from the top of your buttcrack over to the middle of your cheek and then give your injection about 4 fingers ABOVE that line towards the outside. It’s also where I did my PIO and I never had issues. Also, if you are using heat beforehand you’re gonna bleed a little which is normal. A little bleeding in general can be normal with IM injections. Just make sure you wipe off the site real good and put a bandage over it. (The PIO if any comes out it can irritate the skin.)

Some days I bleed, some days I don’t. I forgot to massage the one side after and the following injection on that cheek led to bleeding. I think I had a bit more pressure built up from not massaging the last one.

I always had a little dot of blood. Only once did blood arc out (hubs didn't test injection spot first). Is it a lot of blood or just a drop?

Probs not. It is hard to always do so. But hey! PIO is a good thing because it means that you've made it that far!!

It’s always a couple drops. But I ended up having my friend who’s more experienced in injections give it to me. She said hubby wasn’t giving it in the best spot lol
