Graco as a company sucks now...

So we have very little graco stuff because I don't like the quality of most of it honestly. the pack n plays and high chairs are fine but just not a fan of a lot of their stuff. For car seats we have always preferred Maxi Cosi. My mother in law always calls us "snooty and stuck up" because we have a what she deems a luxury brand. Whatever we ignore her about it. Just had baby 4 a few months past and she bought a graco seat for us like 3 months pregnant to make a point. Ok fine...we have been using it as it isn't worth it to fight her. Well today a small part of it broke when my husband went to tighten it. Didn't think much of it as with our other seats if there is any issue that is caused by normal use or manufacturer issue they just replace the seat for free. Our last maxi cosi seat had some fraying on the strap after 4 yrs and immediately sent a new one. Called graco and because it was bought over a year ago (only used for 3 months though) it is out of warranty and the option was we need to buy a new seat but they will give us a 5% off coupon for the trouble. They asked for photos too which we sent and they agreed it was a issue with the seat and nothing we did. It's insane to me a $300 car seat that is supposed to last 8 yrs through booster seat had a 1 yr warranty no matter what. We need a seat and called maxi cosi to see how fast shipping could get us a seat and they gave us 15% off because they felt bad. A 1 yr warranty is absurd on something so needed/expensive that is supposed to last. Edit: Buying baby gear at any point of a pregnancy should be fine. When my sister had her twins knowing she needed 4 seats between their 2 cars she bought them on cyber monday while they were on sale. She was only 14 weeks...it shouldn't matter imo. If the products aren't shit the company wouldn't be afraid of a decent return policy. Every other baby gear company we have bought through is longer than a year.
