When did you let your kid eat hotdogs?

Hotdogs are the one food I haven't let my toddler try yet. Even diced up. I've just always heard how hot dogs are not safe at all for kids. But with summer coming around and knowing we will be doing campfire hotdogs often, just wondering.

12+ months is fine. Just serve appropriately. Make sure babe fully understands how to take bites and chew.
Bite sized pieces are not the safest. Do not do small bites. Quarter strips from 12-18m and then halved for 18+m
