How to move away from my hometown

Leah • Just trying to figure my shit out

Need advice. Been getting the itch to get out of my home town for a while now. Since I was in highschool I knew I didn’t wanna stay here forever, come back when I was older, but get of my hometown to grow a little bit. I went to community college while my boyfriend at the time joined the military, at the time it was the best decision to be able to see eachother, so I never left to go to a big college university outside my state. After we broke up Covid happened, just getting into the work force so not a lot of money to my name to move away while also trying to finish school. 4 years later I’m established in my job where I could get a similar job somewhere else have a business degree and a decent amount of savings. The hardest part that has held me back is not my now ex boyfriend or lack of money is having my comfort of my family just minutes away if I need and it’s literally 98% of my family who lives in the same city. So there’s that while also having the comfort of just knowing my surroundings aka I’m in my safety box. I obviously know it’s going to be uncomfortable to step outside that box and move away from the only thing I’ve ever known and my safety net. I’ve traveled a lot so I know there’s a lot more of the world to see besides my small city. Every close person in my life right now is either getting married or having kids or starting their careers some in different states. I’ve been growing myself independently for the last 4 years but now I feel like I’ve got no room left to grow here. I really need some advice on how to even get started to move away to feel secure in my decision. I’ve researched a lot of places that I know I could afford and adapt too it’ll just be the meeting of new people and not having my family around me that’ll worry me. Any advice would be great!!
