LH test question?

Hi, I decided to start tracking so I bought a box of ovulation/ pregnancy test. They came today and I wanted to try both just to see what they were like. I got a positive LH and a negative hCG. Well I thought I already ovulated, I use an app that tells me my estimated ovulation and I felt the symptoms I always do around that time of ovulation. I start my period in 6 days, why would I have a LH surg?

Answer

Lh fluctuates throughout your cycle and it’s normal to get a surge near your period. Lh strips test for a surge in Lh and typically your first positive opk is the surge that triggers ovulation. Taking an opk this late in your cycle unfortunately won’t tell you anything.
