Oh to finally be heard.

Miriam

I’ve had something wrong with my health for a long time now. I went to 4 doctors and they all said “this sounds like your period” or “Losing weight will help a lot.” Despite me saying I can’t lose weight and asking for help.

For context: I’ve done multiple diet/exercise routines and even got a Personal Trainer. But the weight still hasn’t come off and it’s been 5 years. Which is disheartening to say the least. Well 2 years ago I decided to take a long journey to prove that I’m right and there’s something else. I got the endometriosis diagnostic surgery- Clean- ran every blood test under the sun- No deficiencies- and finally, FINALLY! The 5th doctor says “This doesn’t sound like your period and I definitely want to get you in to a Gastroenterologist. It could be that you have something that general practice doesn’t typically test for.” It’s safe to say I was shocked to hear something other than “Well have you tried losing weight?” So, I saw the GI doc a few days ago and she was angry that I wasn’t sent to a specialist sooner. She hit the ground running and is working with my new doctor to get a plan in place to get back to feeling better!

It was so rewarding to hear that I wasn’t crazy. Not to mention, being able to say that it has nothing to do with my uterus makes finding what’s actually wrong so much easier!
