Hoping to get a man’s opinion or even other women, I guess. My husband and I have been together for 7 years, married for 1. I found out back in September that he’s been masturbating. He hid his toy from me and has had it since November of the year prior (almost 1 year) I also found out he’s been exploring anal play with himself.. now I know I may not always be in the mood but we do have sex a few times a month. We live together and he says that masturbating is normal in relationships and that it’s just because he feels like he needs to bust a nut.. the issue is he only does this on days that I work and am not home. In a sense it makes me feel like I am being cheated on.. because he doesn’t vocalize his needs or desires from me. I thought that maybe if he shared clips of him masturbating that it’ll make me feel better about it and he agreed and then out of a sudden he says it makes him feel like crap and makes him want to cry and makes him feel violated.. so he stopped doing that and yet he is still masturbating behind my back and when I ask him if he did he gets extremely confrontational and upset with me.. what do I do.. is this normal?

Absolutely it’s normal for men to masturbate that we all just wanna feel better or feel good, it helps to reduce stress, it helps them to sleep, it’s good for the prostate, masturbation is completely normal. It doesn’t have anything to do with being single or in a relationship or cheating, it’s something to deal with anxiety or depression, it is completely normal. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t desire you, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t find you attractive or anything like that you’re taking it to heart and you’re taking it personally when it’s not. I had an ex that worked two jobs, it was part of his daily routine, he would go to his first job, come home, eat, masturbate, take a nap, and go to a second job. It was the only way he could deal with Customer Service and the amount of BS that he had to deal with at his second job and not want to kill people. I had no issue with it whatsoever and I have no issue with it with any partnerhas nothing to do with you unless he has no desire to be with you or tells you physically I’m not attracted to you. I don’t wanna be with you or anything to that nature that’s a different story. It’s a quick release. That’s what it is when it comes to sex. You have to worry about holding off on your climax. You have to worry about the other person climaxing, sweating, having the strength to hold your body up, not popping off too soon, it’s a lot physically. With masturbation it’s a quick release, yet again it has nothing to do with you unless he prefers that over you or he can’t get off with you. You see the difference it’s not about you. I know you feel it is, it’s making you feel insecure, it’s making you feel undesired, whatever it may be going through your head, it’s not about you. Let’s just be honest. Don’t we all just want to feel better we’re good, don’t we all have clear thoughts, don’t we all want to not have built-up aggravation and stress and depression or anxiety or anything else, wouldn’t you rather come home to a partner who’s happy, in a good mood, who’s not suffering in anyway, at least I would.  Most men masturbate, you’re gonna have a very hard time finding somebody who doesn’t, if this is his only red flag, I would welcome it with open arms. ￼ you can talk to him about it, but I think he’s going to probably turn it into a controlling or manipulation or guilt or some situation to that nature, it’s like watching TV, you get bored watching the same channel let’s just be honest you flip the channel until you find something that sparks your interest, and when that gets boring, you flip the channel, it has nothing to do with you. it’s something that gets him through the day, it makes him feel better, don’t take it personally. I would take him with himself think of it that way, and the more you try to tell him not to or deny him, the more he’s gonna do it, and he’s just gonna hide it and become a liar, at least he was honest about it. On the contrary, embrace it so he doesn’t have to be ashamed, tell him it’s OK, I understand better now, and either join him or encourage it. Or maybe you need to take some things off of your plate, so that you’re able to accommodate him more often. Obviously, when you go, you are stressed out, sex is the last thing on your mind. But maybe you need to take some things off of your plate you are less stressed so that you’re able to be intimate with him more often
