booster seat

My son just turned 5 he’s about 37+ lbs. His head is over top of his forward facing car seat. Is it time

for him to get a booster seat or is he still too small for just the little booster seat. i seen online they have a booster seat (which the back part, which looks very similar to a regular forward facing car seat) is that what i get him now or should he still stay in his car seat
