Christian (more so spiritual) & Atheist dating?

Question

Do you think this pairing can work? I’m a spiritual believer I do believe in God but I also believe that a person individual relationship with God is their own I don’t necessarily go hard for religion but it would be nice to have someone to pray with, however a guy I’m dating who I like ALOT is an atheist we have discussed our beliefs and he outright doesn’t believe in God and is against prayer which I’m sorta on the fence about but all our other values align. Do you think this could be a problem long term? I more so like the idea of prayer so when times get tough my S/o doesn’t go outside to the worldly things to blow off steam but instead runs to God for guidance. Again I’m not very religious I don’t believe in policing people’s choices.

It depends on personalities, but for the most part, I do believe a couple should share the same overall morals and values. Obviously people can agree to disagree on certain topics, but anything big like religion or politics, I do think it’s best if the couple has the same beliefs just so there’s no arguments, disagreements or difference in raising children or running a household.

Also don't consider myself religious but I don't think it would work. From my experience dating in the past it didn't. In my marriage we are on the same page spiritually, morally, etc and it is so much better. When I need him to pray for me, teach me, teach our children, etc it just makes things so easy. Ive never been judgemental about what others believe or don't as well.

It could be a problem long-term if either of you don't fully accept the other and their choices in beliefs. You are saying you like the idea of prayer so when times get tough, your partner goes to God and not outside things… Something you will have to accept is that this isn't going to happen with this person. You may have your ideas, but you'll have to accept that he has his own. He will have to accept that you are a praying person. I firmly believe that if you love each other enough to fully accept one another as complete individuals with different ideas and respect those ideas and beliefs, it can work. However, if the two of you don't have that, it won't work. ￼

Depends how open minded they are. If one is bashing the other or respectful. Will one accompany the other to services. Or not go at all. Or avoiding topics altogether. When it comes to how you raise children it can be an issue. I have dated someone who claimed to be an atheist but he would come with me to church. Loved my pastor. Got along well with him. He was more open minded. “Just was not there yet” was super respectful. Never a bad word to say. Appreciated thoughts prayers. All depends on the person.

Really depends. Im agnostic at best these days (grew up catholic). I think prayer is an individual thing that doesn’t have to involve anyone else. My parents are of two different religions-catholic and non-practicing Episcopalian. My dad goes to church every day, always has. That’s his thing

My husband is a muslim.. and i'm christian.. 2 babies and 9 years together.. we are both very happy together.. he respects me and i respect him.. that's all that should matter.. it can be difficult for some people.. especially when children are involved.. but we spoke beforehand and agreed with what our goals are.. and many compromises.. we love each other more now than ever.

I am not religious at all. My 2 partners that I live with are Christian and we get along just fine. My 3rd partner is atheist. We have been together almost 15 years. They don’t talk about religion with me. They understand why I am not religious and they have never pressured me about it.

Nope. You’re either a Christian or you’re not. ‘Spiritual’ is not the same as Christian. 
If you are a Christian then no, you shouldn’t date an atheist. Just like any other religion shouldn’t date outside of their own faith. It’s nearly impossible to be in a serious relationship with someone who doesn’t share your same world view and moral compass. And on that note- if you are a Christian, typically you date with the intent to marry. And again, marrying someone who doesn’t share your faith is not wise. 
And that’s not a judgment thing at all. You can be friends with whoever, and share your faith- but getting into a relationship with someone and trying to ‘save’ them is wrong. Back in my day 👵🏻 we called that “mission dating”- like the dating scene was somehow a mission field 😅😂 it is NOT GOOD and it never works out. 
If you aren’t serious about your faith- like you say you’re a Christian because you believe in God, but you don’t actually follow the Bible- that leans more toward agnostic. I don’t know cause I don’t know you- 
But personally, I believe you shouldn’t date someone who doesn’t hold the same fundamental belief system as you.
