Where to go during a tornado?

I’m in Houston and hurricane berryl is about to hit. Would it be a bad idea if a tornado forms to get in my car in the garage?

i definitely would not, garages are typically not as sturdy and on the outside of the house and your care could very easily get picked up if the tornado is strong enough. i would get in the most middle part of your house or in the basement if you have one and put as many walls between you and the outside as possible or even go to someone’s house with a basement. we have multiple tornados around me and I always stay prepared and I always take them seriously! if you have children, put them in their car seats and strap a diaper bag to the seat along with a piece of paper with their names, ages, emergency contacts, allergies or medical issues and your name and number. we had two the same night on both sides of the town, luckily we were safe but it was so scary

I personally wouldn’t, the safest part of your house is in the middle of it, the hallway, and bathroom with no windows.

No, do not go in your garage. Go to a central room in your home with no windows. Bring cushions or a mattress with you to get under if need be. Tornadoes can be very scary! I lived in Houston for 10 years, and have never seen a tornado caused from a hurricane, but I know it can happen. Stay safe!
