My reminder that every kid is very different!
My 3 year old in a month kiddo had 1-2 verbal words until 24m. She was born at 35 weeks. We did have her evaluated with early intervention at 22m old. She was deemed stubborn as she was meeting or exceeding in all other areas of development . We were right as she got her word bomb at 24m and was at 300+ words by 26m. She’s now talking in full sentences (easily 8-10 words) and can hold a conversation. While she was delayed, she bounced back quick.
Now our 21m old who was born 3 months early so he’s actually 18m old, is talking like crazy. In the last 3 months he’s had his word bomb. He has over 100 words and can say 2-4 word sentences. His favorites are “thank you mama” “my daddy car” “yay I did it” “mama up please” “more please” “bye bye sissy” “night night sissy” “chocolate milk please”. He also will change out the persons name for who he is addressing. We cannot believe our little 27 weeker has such an insane vocabulary before 2.
Two very different experiences with speech in our littles.
Also, remember it never hurts to get an evaluation done. Delays don’t mean you did anything wrong as a parent. Delays don’t mean anything is wrong either. Some kids need a little extra help and that’s okay!
Here’s my two littles! 13.5m apart ❤️
