Pregnancy test?

Hey all, my hubby and I have been TTC for almost a month. I’ve been feeling weird lately and I want to take a test. I know we are told to wait two weeks and to test by the start of our period. However this is week two and my period isn’t for another 16 days. I’m at a loss of what to do in this situation.

Periods are due roughly 2 weeks after ovulation day. So if truly 16 days away from your period you probably have not even ovulated. Period due date depends on ovulation day and luteal phase length. You can only get pregnant during your ovulation window. After ovulation, it takes 6-12 days for implantation to occur then 2-3 days for hCG to double and be high enough to even show on any test.

Did you get your period last month (aka about 2 weeks ago)? If so and you have regular periods, you’re likely ovulating around now and would have your best chance of conception now. A pregnancy test would be negative. However, if you have irregular cycles or your last period was over 2 weeks ago, then it would be worth taking a test.
You can actually only get pregnant at one time period per month if you have typical cycles. I recommend reading up on hormone fluctuations during your cycle and how they affect TTC. 🙂
