To keep or not to keep?
Admittedly I’m a person who struggles to let things go. Not a hoarder, but sentimental could be the right word.
I’ve kept a lot of baby clothes from both my kids (M, 5 y.o. and F 22 mo.) as well as the bassinet, changing table, crib (toddler is in toddler bed) toys from both kids that they don’t play with anymore, pack and play, play mat, baby swing, etc. and it’s all sitting in my basement right now. Our basement is very humid even with two dehumidifiers running, we have a slight water issue in the basement in the spring when the snow is all melting, so really as best as I try to store it, it’s probably not going to stay in a perfect condition. I’ve had it in my head to keep it all so we don’t need much for our last baby, but we don’t even want to start trying for another two-three years. Looking in the basement today there’s just so much stuff down there, I don’t even know if we will actually use all of it again like I think we will, we could want to get all new stuff a few years from now.
If you had a few years age gap between kids, did you keep the baby stuff? Some of it? Get rid of it by donating, garage sale? I don’t see myself having a garage sale but I could always give it away or post it for very cheap on marketplace.
Bonus, what do you think about having a small bin full of sentimental items for your kids? Coming home outfit from hospital, favorite toy, blanket, etc. ? Is that something for the parents or do kids actually enjoy looking at that stuff later on?
