Wanting to transition from bottle to breast at 4 months
To shorten up this post a bit, I ended up bottle feeding my baby pumped breast milk for a bunch of anxiety-related reasons very early on. He used to breast feed at night until maybe a month old but I ended up fully switching to bottles and am wanting to switch to exclusively breast feed but am having a lot of trouble. I pump 65-70oz a day so supply is not the problem. The problem is that my baby doesn’t want to latch. I’ve tried different kinds of nipple shields, the bait and switch method, feeding half of a bottle first, and I just tried an SNS with pumped milk for the first time tonight with no luck. I really thought that would work and am so sad. Pumping is really affecting my mental health and I just cannot do it anymore (unrelated to my oversupply, just pumping in general), but I also cannot give up on giving my baby my milk when I have no problem making it. I pace feed him and use premie nipples and don’t know what else to do. I’m going to try the SNS again but it’s so hard because I don’t know what else to do.
I should see a lactation consultant but I’m moving next week so it’s going to be a bit before I can make that happen.
Has anyone else ever been in a similar boat or do you have any other ideas I can try?
