Embarrassed of my step son
I feel bad saying this but my stepson is so hard to take in public. He's on the spectrum. So sometimes he gets overwhelmed. And it can even lead to hitting. Me and my husband had to put him in a corner to talk to him because he was acting out. After all, he was overwhelmed.
He's 8 and it just gets embarrassing when he won't act correctly in public. Yesterday I was out of the store with him and my daughter. My daughter is 18. He started crawling on the floor and then put himself in a ball and said "I'm a wet sea sponge!" People were staring. It was humiliating.
My daughter just smiled and said, "I thought sponges get bigger when they get wet." Which did make him get up. I get he has autism. I get social cues aren't his strong suit. But as someone who's raised extremely well-behaved children, I hate when people stare at me like I raise kids with no home training
