when babies speak ?

Question

My baby is 14 months old and only babbles or says dada but doesn’t know what it means ( as father ) and when i point who’s dada, doesn’t rnorhing.
so when babies should know words what they mean when speaking one ? 
I’m concerned as a mom said to me her 14m old babies knows 4 words and also the baby knows what they mean and point to it.
Should i go to a pediatrician?

I’ve had 3 babies (my third is currently 15 months) and they are all different. My first kid started talking before he was a 1 year old, by the time he was a year and a half he was putting 2 words together. My second kid was also an early talker, but not as early & was saying probably 10 words by 14 months. My third, who is 15 months, does not say much. He says “dada, daddy” he doesn’t really say “mama” he will mimic us when we tell him to “get down” and he says “welcome”. Other than that he will just say “go”. He talks less than the other 2 were at his age. But he’s also walking sooner than my second one walked. 🤷🏻‍♀️ the point is they all develop at different paces & I wouldn’t be concerned yet.

All babies will speak at different times. You can talk to your baby as you’re doing things around the house and show pictures of faces and say their name while pointing to their faces. My daughter is 2 now and she wasn’t saying much at 14 months. Maybe mama and she knew who mama was but that was about it. She really started picking up around 18 months and now at 25 months she’s speaking complete sentences and saying words I didn’t know she knew like “delicious” so it honestly just depends. Keep trying. Keep pointing out different objects to your baby and they will be fine.
