9 year old daughter and puberty

I think my 9 year old is starting to get her period (I’m calling her pediatrician tomorrow). This afternoon I was talking on the phone and all of a sudden she ran to me and said “mom I’m bleeding when I went to the bathroom” so I hurried off of the phone to go and look and sure enough there was bright red blood on the toilet paper and I noticed some red tinged discharge in her underwear. I had a talk with her and explained how to use pads and that I wanted to help her whenever she used the bathroom. Fast forward to tonight she never leaked any blood onto a pad after that but one or two more times that she went to the bathroom and wiped there was a small amount of blood that was either bright red or a little darker and this last time she went there was nothing at all. Does this sound like a normal period or maybe just a different hormones thing? This is all so new to me and I feel like I’m freaking out more than her lol
