Husband wants to quit marriage counseling after 1 session
Me and my husband are in the brick of a divorce and he finally agreed to go to marriage counseling and he's already wanting to quit after 1 day. During the session the therapist asked about any mental health issues and family history if such. My husband said he has BPD (borderline personality disorder). The therapist said "according to who?" He got mad and sair "According to the psychologist who evaluated me when I was 18. She said she usually sees BPD in women not men. She asked anything else. I mention my depression. My husband mentioned his autism and she said "Who gave you that diagnosis." He said every psychologist he's ever seen since the age of 11." She told my husband "I'm gonna be honest. I don't see autism or BPD in you." My husband got angry and yelled saying she's only been talking to us for 10 minutes. She told him to calm down and I told my husband she's just trying to help us. She asked me if I ever thought my husband may be a hypochondriac and I said no and my husband started yelling because he has his diagnosis documented and he doesn't appreciate her treating him like he's lying or something. She said she's just trying to understand because she doesn't usually see BPD in men and she isn't picking up autism from my husband. Long story short, the session lasted 30 minutes before my husband got angry and walked off and said he's not going back to her ever again. I'm trying so hard to save our marriage. And he's willing to quit therapy after one session.
