Fear of Oldest Daycare Germs
TW-NICU
For some context, my 1.5 yo was admitted to a children’s hospital NICU at only a few days old due to a mystery virus they picked up within the first few days after being born. Our visitors were limited and those people washed their hands and took precautions. And even though I am super grateful we only needed to stay for a week, it was the hardest week of my life and I don’t wish to experience that again.
Well, my oldest will be in daycare when our second arrives, and as any parent with a child in daycare will tell you, those kids pick up EVERY germ imaginable. I am so (maybe irrationally so) fearful of my oldest, who will be so affectionate and loving to LO, will end up passing something along and we end up back in a similar position (if not worse than) when we had our oldest.
I’m not sure if I’m looking for some advice of precautions from someone else who’s been in this position, or just some reassurance from people who have had similar fears. But I know I’m not looking for comments about how I sound anxious or my fears are unwarranted. Thank you for understanding.
