Is it tacky?

So two of my daughters ages 7 and 10 want to throw me a baby shower (I'd be doing) they would just pick the theme and of course help. I did tell them that i wasnt going to have one and after the first baby its not appropriate. The issue is we just went to a baby shower and it was thier 4th baby and my girls said they want to celebrate thier baby brother like thier friends got to. Is it tacky having a baby celebration party not shower and just request no gifts? I really dont want one but i understand why my girls thought the baby shower they went to was awesome. My 10 yr old said all babies should be celebrated. I offered a party with just us but they want to invite thier grandparents aunts/uncles, and a friend or 2.

You could do a sprinkle instead of a shower. You can always use diapers, wipes, baby soaps and what not. Every baby deserves to be celebrated in some fashion. I am having a second daughter and even though I have all of my daughter’s baby clothes a friend of mine offered to throw a baby shower for me.

Definitely definitely not tacky to have a baby shower for 3rd of 10th baby. Every baby is special and unique and no one should tell you what to do. Celebrate all your kids please! Plus this even sounds like your “first boy” either ways, whether 1st or 7th, throw the biggest baby shower you want.

I don’t think it’s inappropriate  to have more then one shower . It’s celebrating the new life you have created . My sister in law wants to throw me a sprinkle and it’s my third baby . I wouldn’t ask for a bunch of gifts but there’s nothing wrong with having a gathering and receiving diapers or smaller items .

I agree with the 10 year old.  Every baby deserves to be celebrated. Its not tacky at all. Not to mention its been 7 years since your last baby so you probably dont have all the things you will need, plus the first boy. If you dont want a full on shower, you could do a baby "sprinkle" or request just the small things like diapers and wipes, diaper rash cream, infant medicines, etc.

In our family it’s considered greedy and a no no but everyone and every family is different if you think people will come and buy stuff why not 🤷🏻‍♀️

A lot of people have sprinkles when they have a different gender than what they previously had. Also with 7 years between your youngest and your new baby, it’s not that crazy to throw a second shower. I had a shower with my first & my second was born 6 years later, our family did throw us a second shower. We had gotten rid of all our baby stuff & although I wouldn’t have thrown a shower for myself, I don’t think it was tacky to do so.
