I've been with my boyfriend for 4 years and we have a son together. His 30th birthday is coming up. My boyfriend has never had a real birthday. He grew up as a Jehovah's witness and they don't celebrate any holidays. Not even their birthdays. The last time my boyfriend got anything that resembled a birthday celebration is when he was 10 and his best friend gave him a cupcake for his 19th birthday. His mom ended up smacking him across the face. Told him he's selfish and called him a 10 year old narcissistic for thinking he is equal to Jesus. Then he forced him to stop being friends with that boy. His mom is a loon. But he feels extreme guilt when it comes to his birthday. He would say he wants to celebrate than change his mind because he feels guilty and thinks he doesn't deserve a birthday. He's turning 30 which is a big milestone. He keeps going back and forth with his birthday. Should I just throw him a party and show him it's ok and not selfish to celebrate yourself?
