6 days late

So, I took a test this morning and it appears to be negative. Did I test too early? Should I try again in a couple more days? My period is never this late expect when I was pregnant with my almost 3 year old. My friend was saying maybe my period is late bc I traveled to Wa last week (2 hour difference) but is that a thing? Lol traveling affecting your period? Also my nipples are somewhat sore and I feel cramping here and there but not bad at all and I’m super tired lately but that could be from getting used to my time zone again. You would think I would know all these things from being pregnant before hahah
