cross post. son is here. very traumatic for me.
my son decided he wasn’t waiting for my 39w induction on 8/21! he came at 38+2 on August 16th @ ABOUT 4:42 pm. weighing 7lb 2.5oz and 19in. ( i’m going to get into why it’s about that time ) so i started having cramps and irregular contractions on 8/15. they went away though and all was fine. was woken up @ 5:00 am on 8/16 with pretty intense cramps and pressure. finally caved and realized it wasn’t going away and im definitely in labor at about 930 am. call my ob. they tell me to go to the hospital. i get there im hooked up, im checked, im in pain but managing. i’m 4cm when first checked, i asked to come off NST to move around for comfort and to dilate some more, they tell me wait 2 hrs for another check and then maybe i can come off NST. they come and check in 2 hrs, im still at a 4, but my contractions are getting unbearable. mind you im high risk pregnancy, and my son is extremely high risk. he needs the NICU team on stand by and up to L&D immediately so he can be taken right down there. okay so they check me im still at a 4cm but im in unbearable pain. they offered me IV FLUIDS AND TYLENOL when i asked for pain medication before the epidural. they offer me those and tell me to GO HOME?????? this isn’t my first kid. we are both high risk. i needed antibiotics for GBS. i have a bunch of questions and they can answer none of them. they look at me like i’m crazy. THEY SEND ME HOME. i’m just getting to l&d lobby and im crying in pain. i’m walking down from l&d balling my eyes out in pain. im outside waiting for the car to be pulled around and im barely holding on. i get in the car and its one contraction after another about every 3 min. i get home, cant get out the car and walk inside for about 15 min. finally get inside and im screaming and crying like im being lit on fire alive. i knew something was wrong and kept crying something is wrong this is too fast and close together and they discharged me! MY WATER BREAKS AND IM FREAKING OUT KNOWING IVE HAD NO PAIN RELIEF AND I WANTED RBAT AND AN EPIDURAL. IM 30 min away from hospital with traffic at that time. well water breaks and instantly we are talking 2 min or less apart contractions. i’ve never screamed and cried so hard in my life. i was horrified. i knew i wasn’t making it to the hospital in time for any pain relief. we call 911 cause they can get me there faster than we can with it being 30 min away and a bunch of traffic. thank god i did. we get in the ambulance, and i’m having 1 min apart contractions and i’m about to pass out. we FINALLY get to the hospital in maybe 15 min instead of 30 min they were FLYING. literally i think they were. i was in agonizing pain. it was so much pressure and it was nothing i’ve felt before….. im screaming and begging these people to help me and get me there so i can get pain medication. well…. we get to the hospital, walk in the EMS entrance doors all the way at the ground floor and we need to get to sixth floor literally STAT. AS SOON AS THE ELEVATOR DOOR OPENS I HAVE SO MUCH PAIN AND I HAVE TO PUSH SO BAD.
they told me to push so i did, and with 2 pushes my son was born in my hospitals elevator with the assistance of these lovely paramedics who
i knew didn’t think they would deliver a baby today! i did it all natural with no pain medication at all. i didn’t tear but very minor superficial one on the inside that just burns when i pee. no switches my labor went from uneventful to 100 real quick. i’ve never experienced it before. i can’t believe my hospital though. i was still contracting at that ;cm and asked to move around to help get it moving more multiple times… and they could see the ever coming contractions and my pain tolerance dwindling very quickly. they still sent me home. they had no beds at all. not even on postpartum side. my son could have died, he has multiple abnormalities and needed the nicu staff immediately. i’m so disappointed in this hospital and what they have done. they are #1 in my city for fetal care… but my son and me were pushed to the side because they had no beds available. here is my sweet son thriving perfectly in the NICU. he is eating well, he latched so lovely… he is breathing perfectly. blood sugar is good. temperature is good. i’m so grateful it all turned out okay but this was the most traumatic event of my life and it could of been avoided. i am incredibly proud of myself even though i didn’t plan all natural i did it and i can tell you i feel amazing quite honestly. im so grateful for those EMS. i’m so thankful for the quickness of the nicu team once i made it up to l&d and told them to call nicu instantly. my son is beautiful, and i can’t wait for his big sister to meet him!
my kids are my life. i am so grateful and blessed.
