Breastfeeding Twins

Found out today our 3rd baby is actually our 3rd and 4th baby.

Slightly panicking, mostly about cost.

Please tell me there is a chance I can successfully avoid the cost of formula and breastfeed two babies.

Obviously we knew this was a possibility, but it’s still a shock.

For reference I breastfed my first two kids without any complications. I didn’t over produce but I had more than enough for one.

I obviously know it’s supply and demand, but it just seems like making enough for two is a lot.

Ease my mind here.

I’m sure it’ll be hard sometimes but also doable. Also look into Wic and see if you qualify. If so get on Wic for formula and then breastfeed what you can and use the formula if needed.

Look for crisis center type things. Some places will give formula and diapers 4 times a year per child and that could help a bit. If you go to a dhs center or health department they probably have resources they can help you with.

I don’t qualify for WIC. We make too much. These are just our 3rd and 4th kid and we anticipated a $1500 daycare bill not a $3000 daycare bill lol

It’s definitely doable! The only reason I stopped breastfeeding one of my twins was his horrible reflux and he stopped latching

Hi it is possible to breastfeed two but as time goes i found it draining physically especially during the first two months when feeds are more regular I felt as if once I was done with one feed I had to pump and the moment I was done it was time for the next feed. The emotional strain affected my supply I made a decision at 2.5 months to supplement with formula and pump to save some. Interestingly the extra rest and freedom I got allowed me to pump with less pressure and stress my supply has increased again and I have a lot saved in the freezer to help me go back to more breast milk than formula but I know I have the option.

My third ended up being twins as well! I was absolutely shocked and imagine felt the same was as you. Definitely some panic there about a few things but I’m confident it’ll all work out. I was curious about the same thing, I breastfed my first two and was hoping to breastfeed my twins as well. I just want to make sure they both get enough and are happy and healthy

Just remember to stay well-hydrated, eat a balanced diet, and get enough rest. You can also consider seeking support from a lactation consultant for personalized guidance. You've got this!</p>
