I have decided not to announce my pregnancy to anyone, including my mother-in-law, and I’m even considering not letting them know when the baby arrives. My husband thinks this is not a good idea and that it might upset people. I don’t have a relationship with my husband’s family—there’s no bad blood or anything, but we’re just living separate lives and minding our own business. This is our third child, and with the first two, no one was really involved or asked how I was doing. We were always the ones visiting them. I just don’t think they need to know or have access to our lives, especially since my MIL hinted before that having a third child wasn’t a good idea. For context, my mom and brother are the only ones who know because they’ve always been there and have been supportive. Am I being selfish for doing this? Your advice is greatly appreciated.
