Has anyone ever experienced brown spotting that lasts a week or more before their period?

On my last cycle I started brown spotting about a week before my period and my period is due in 5 days but I’ve already had brown spotting for the last 6 days?

I’m not on any contraception so it can’t be because of the pill or anything. Just wondered if it’s normal or should I see a doctor?
