Gift to girly?

My son just had his 14th birthday and we gave him a couple gifts. I gave him a journal because he's in high school and he's been having a lot of feelings. He's actually been writing in it and my husband is upset at me because he doesn't want his only son to have a diary. We have 4 girls and he got his only son and doesn't want me making him feminine. I just thought this would help with any feelings he's having and he seems to like it
