Why could I miss a period

I missed my Period last week. I’m on birth control. 
I took 2 pregnancy tests and they were both negative.

How long have you been on birth control?
Some forms of birth control can stop your periods or make them come  more seldom. For example, the shot, the implant, pills with 24 active pills and only 4 “period pills”. 
Other things like stress and illness, significant changes in weight, medical conditions like PCOS or thyroid issues ( even when you are on the pill) can cause it.
And of course, pregnancy. Take a test 7 days after your missed period, and repeat it 7 days later again to make sure.
In the mean time, keep on taking your pills as prescribed.
