What vitamin deficiency causes insomnia?

Celeste L

Hello, everyone. I have a family member who cannot sleep for the life of her.

She tries her best to get even a good amount of sleep, but her body cannot unwind down and rest until the morning hours.

She does light to heavy exercises midday to evening to night. She drinks her valerian root at night before bed. She sometimes drinks almond milk to help her sleep at night.

She takes her magnesium pills at night close to when she goes to sleep. She sometimes drinks herbal teas before bed or in the morning.

She goes outside in the sunlight in the morning to get her Vitamin D.

She walks and jogs at the park. Before going to bed, she sometimes listens to white noise or black noise or rain sounds to help her sleep better. She wants to sleep, but her body isn’t letting her. She has pre-menopause symptoms, but that’s not all. She has been trying to sleep these past few days when she’s not on her menstruation cycles.

She even takes her iron pills because she feels she is low on iron.

What could be the cause?

We searched several symptoms on the Internet, and we searched for possible answers. We even looked up several different ailments and their symptoms. She has been to the doctor two years ago. Her doctor diagnosed her with iron deficiency and vitamin D deficiency including pre-diabetes and told her to exercise more; however, years passed and she is now better but is suffering with insomnia again. Her insomnia is possibly related to something else. The doctors didn’t know the rest of the things as they weren’t sure were the cause. They needed a few more tests / analysis to make their diagnosis.

She has been to the ER several times before. However, this year, she has barely visited a doctor.
