Is this considered unequally yoked?

I am Protestant (non denominational) and he is Catholic (Roman) we both like each other a lot, have a solid and similar faith foundation but I know there are differences. At the end of the day is this considered unequally yoked to continue forward in a relationship? I don’t want to convert, and I’m sure he probably wouldn’t either nor would I want to live separately such as attending different church services. Thoughts?? I also believe for myself one must be saved as in accepting Christ as our personal savior, and I’ve been told by several Catholics that you don’t need to be saved to go to heaven. Please let this be a respectful discussion as I say this out of love and no hate whatsoever!! 😊

Is he a true Christian? (Believes Jesus died and was resurrected for the forgiveness of your sins). I know so many Catholics that are not true Christians and just follow the traditions, and I beleive many are true Christians. I think that is key. Would he be willing to go to the church with you? It would be healthy for your relationship to worship together rather than separately.

Why not alternate services? It’s not unequally yoked, so many people say Catholics are not Christians, they are.  I was raised Catholic and now attend Christian churches of different denominations depending on where I am on Sundays, I find them more upbeat and laid back.  I think what is important is that solid foundation, and perhaps both people learning more about the other’s church, if you both still attend.  Just try to be respectful, and realize that one came before the other, but the root is the same.  I don’t specifically know what Protestant church is like, but think of Catholic Church as more traditional and reverent and rooted in the traditions of Jesus and his life.

It is unequally yoked. You don’t have the same faith foundation.  I don’t know how much you know about catholics but my great grandmother was serving in the church to teach kids going through baptism up to confirmation.  Here are some ground breaking differences.  Protestants believe in the bible as the only source of Gods word. Catholics believe it is the bible plus church (what pope says) catholics also have a rosary. They pray for dead people, they also believe in pagatory, you die and go somewhere to pay for your sins then head to heaven. And some even believe your living relatives can offer church some money to get u out of pagatory. Protestants believe u die and where u land is final. Catholics believe good works save but Protestants are saved by grace through faith alone. Then the biggest problem is catholics pray to holy Mary, to saints (Christian’s who died) and most especially they pray before images. Protestants don’t pray before images, they call that idol worship.  Some Catholics believe you have to go through the motherly Mary to convince her son to have mercy on you. Protestants believe Jesus is merciful and won’t turn away anyone who will come. Now the only way a marriage between a catholic and a Protestant can work without bumping heads is if either one converts, or both are very Luke warm. If both are professing Christians but neither do behave like it. Otherwise how are you gonna raise kids? Kids don’t need parents contradicting eachother.  What I have seen is some just don’t talk about faith completely with the kids and both stop praying or one doesn’t teach the kids their faith. But if both of you want to teach the kids your different faiths, it’s gonna be tough. But even as individuals, that will never be a topic u can talk about freely without fear of offending eachother. I say long term, let it go if none of you is willing to convert.

We were in a similar situation. I was raised Catholic and so was he, but his family stopped going to church when he was in 3rd grade. I looked into other Protestant faiths such as Baptist and non-denominational, but I found that many had heart knowledge of Christ, but no head knowledge or reverence for important sacraments that he instilled in the apostles before he left. While there are many Catholics that have head knowledge, but lack heart knowledge (I would never say they aren’t Christian-Protestants have root in Catholicism). Obviously there are generalizations from my personal experience. At first my (now) husband was indifferent, but interested in faith, and I said that I wanted to practice a faith that we could grow in together for our future family. We ended up looking into the LCMS Lutheran church and it is beautiful. I love that we have apostolic faith, there is the liturgy (it’s as close to the Catholic Church as you can get while still retaining important sacraments such as baptism and the Eucharist), and it focuses on the Bible and the gospel message of Christ. I know couple who are different faiths, but it’s usually denominations that are fairly close. If you come from a reformed Calvinist view of Protestantism, I think that would be very challenging. Think about how you would raise future children and what Sundays would look like. Also talk with him and see if he is expecting you to convert of if you can find something different together. Hi! Lets difference something important. Biblical Christians are not religious persons in.a.mundane way. I dont known if you are biblical.or just assist to a.church,  but if you read the word of God you'll know that following Jesús surpass greatly a religion because He changes our.lives from.inside.out, so we are not part or with affinity of.this.world, mundane religions just deceives you while get you far away from the only God. Thanks to Jesus you can talk and feel God with no middle man, you can talk to Him in secret wherever you want and how many times.you want. THERE'S NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO PLEASED GOD, HE DID EVERYTHING FOR FOR US, SO THAT EVERYONE WHO WANTS IT DONT GET LOST BUT HAS EVERLASTING LIFE, it's the biggest gift from God to mankind, and religions try to erase that, remember we have an army just from enemies. Catholicism its built in.pagan bases. They.worship other.gods ( 2 and third commandments).They worshiped the.word.of the pope instead of Jesús. You need to find this.things and be in peace with your decisions. Knowledge.its.vital in this.time.
