Home world in kindergarten
Ok so I'm looking for some advice my oldest started kindergarten and has homework. They want him to complete his worksheets he didn't during the day as a form of habit saying if he does his work he will have time for other things. They also want a reading log. One hour a night of math games and sight word games that is one on one.
Here is our reality I'm a solo parent during the week my husband works so much he isn't home before the kids go to bed. My oldest has to go to bed at 6:30 PM because of his bussing. He has to be up at 5:30 and his bus comes at 6:10. So he has long days and needs sleep.
Because I am solo with three kids 5, 3, 1 I do my best but I cannot devote an hour to my oldest alone. Between one night of hockey, dinner, baths, reading a book I'm doing my best. I sent an email to his teacher he is only home 3 hours a night. Also he started hitting his head the first night of homework. So I made the choice to not do it.
None of our friends kids have homework at five and I believe kids should have unscheduled time too. Weekends are packed with family stuff so it isn't a good time either. Am I being unreasonable? I'm just burned out.
