How bad is it / what can happen if you don’t continue prenatals/vitamins while breastfeeding?
Budget has been so tight lately, I haven’t been able to get anything & it’s been a couple wks now…

At 4 months pp, you'll have the "great shed" where all that extra hair that hasn't fallen out during pregnancy starts coming out in clumps. If you continue your prenatals, it won't be a big deal (except it may look startling in the shower drain). If you stop your prenatals, you may shed too much hair and get bald spots. Also, DHA deficiency is linked to PPD, so continuing your prenantals, particularly DHA/fish oil, with help reduce the chance of developing depression. You also need these micronutrients for your body to bounce back.

I can’t remember when I stopped
taking them with my second but it was definitely while I was still breastfeeding and I didn’t notice anything bad or different . Maybe ask your dr if there’s a way you can get them!

All nutrients go the breastmilk first so it’s important for you to continue them. There won’t be any effect to the baby unless you’re deficient in certain things. If you eat a very well balanced and nutritious diet, you’ll be ok to skip them for a little but you should try to keep up with them if you can.

Nutrition levels for yourself can easily decrease. You need extra vitamins and minerals from those prenatals to help your body through breastfeeding.

Wow how women want to scare tactic you. If you don’t have the money, don’t stress, it will be ok. You do the best you can with what you have. I would love to see a study of how many women died because they didn’t take vitamins (sarcastic voice). Will you lose chunks of hair, maybe, will you notice a vitamin deficiency, probably not, will you both live through no vitamins, definitely. You are doing just fine.
