Should we move out?

My partner and I are 23 and 24 and are fortunate enough to be having a house reserved to buy, it is currently being built. It will take a minimum of another 2 years. We both currently live with our parents.

Long story short, we’ve been given the opportunity to rent an unfurnished house close by for a lot cheaper than usual.

Would it be silly to move out now? Would we be better off waiting?

I feel so ready to move out and the thought of waiting years more really hurts. My partner on the other hand is keen to save money and is willing to live at home for the next couple of years.

Guess I just want opinions from people who have been in similar situations? Is it worth it? Or should I wait?

I'd move out because you said 'minimum' of 2 years. That means it could be longer if issues come up. Which most builds have issues. You could be waitong 3 or 4 years....or it could be scraped and you don't actually get the home. At that age and with that time line I'd be taking the opportunity that you have now of a cheaper than normal place. I get saving money but I wouldn't want to live at home for another 2 or more years. You can still save money living somewhere else but you should still live your life for then next chunk of years. You don't get that time back. If it was like 8 or 9 months maybe but not 2+ years

Minumim of 2 years? Likely it'll be longer than that. I personally would move out and get my own place.
