WILDLY different IUD insertion experience

I just want to share this experience because wow. Had my IUD replaced early due to it running out of hormones and not even working to help control PCOS symptoms anymore. I cannot physically handle any other type of bc I tried them all and the IUD is the only birth control my body will accept. I know IUD Insertion only hurts some people. I am one of them.

My first insertion was hell, like…I had a cyst rupture on my ovary and bled internally and swelled up like a tick, it hurt to BREATHE, waddled into the ER with a belly full of blood, swollen organs rubbing together like sandpaper and morphine barely touched that pain. #1 most painful experience of my life.

That damn IUD insertion was #2 on the pain list. Only ibuprofen for pain relief. Cervix is “tiny and narrow and didn’t want to cooperate.” I had to be manually dilated which basically just felt like being ripped apart. My cervix was sliced open so bad that I almost needed stitches.

I thought I was going to break the table/bed I was on apart grabbing onto it so hard. This issue with my cervix made the whole process take so long it was stupid. I screamed bloody murder. Oh it didn’t end there! the actual insertion of the IUD made me see bright flashes of light, I felt the IUD arms expand and scrape against the sides of my womb. I walked around in a confused daze for 2 days due to trauma and I cried uncontrollably for no reason.. non stop.. I just couldn’t stop crying like I wasn’t in pain.. I wasn’t upset? and he said that was also a trauma response.

Today they numbed my cervix. Doc wasn’t trying to fight my cervix like that again. a completely wildly different experience.

First the IUD came out and I was like oh what the hell? Strange and painful but tolerable. Then they numbed my cervix with a needle in 4 different places, this was more painful, but still tolerable.

He said I would still feel some pain and pressure when he clamped the cervix….i felt nothing. Then the measurement happened, that still hurt like a mf, it only numbs the cervix so you still feel everything in your uterus. My cervix cooperated this time so it went right in.

Then IUD was inserted, the pain was.. I WANT to say the same as last time, but just way less intense in some way. felt the arms of the IUD expand and then it was done.

The fact that the whole process was so much faster this time was freaking life changing. I didn’t see bright flashes of light and I think maybe it was just ALL the pain combined that made it more intense. I mean I still screamed and was like ripping my face off so it was still.. yeah lol. I have been dreading this day for 5 years a few seconds of some pretty bad pain and..it was over. Done.

I have absolutely no idea why they don’t do this everytime. Completely different experience. Oh I have a pic of my old IUD! I got to keep it!
