Why do I get angry if someone makes more money than I do?

Question

I try not to feel this was but I always get angry if I’m around people that make more money than me. It makes me feel like a loser even though I always try my best in life. Any suggestions?

You gotta stay in your own lane. You’re in charge of your own reactions, and your own wallet. Comparison is a thief of joy. What everyone else does or has shouldn’t affect you in a negative way. If anything it should spark motivation and curiosity. If someone has something you want, the focus should be what you can do to get it, not how unfair it is that they have it. You have to change your mentality from being the victim.

I am similar but I don’t really get angry anymore, I just get sad and disappointed at myself. 
Try to redirect the anger into curiosity. Curiosity about what they do, and how they did it. Curiosity about why you feel the need to compare and why you’re not happy about your own life. 
It’s taken me a few years to kind of let go of the anger but I guess it takes time to shift your mindset. The more you practice doing it, the easier and more instinctual it becomes.

I get it! I feel that way too sometimes. Not necessarily with them making more money, but also just having an all around better life than me. And then I start thinking how everyone is in charge of their own lives and how interesting it is how each person turns out completely different based on their own decisions and actions. If you're unhappy with your life or how much money you have, then sit down and make out a plan to change it. Come up with both short and long term goals, write them all down in a list. Focus on completing them one by one. Things like cutting back on spending, changing to cheaper brands, a certain percentage of your check going straight into savings and sont touch it for anything. Use a savings account that grows with interest over time (Im not sure what they are called, i think high yeild?) Find a better and higher paying job, anything that will help you.  Keep your focus on your goals and you'll get where you want to be!

Try learning from them instead of being jealous!! Wheneve you're around ppl who are higher in life than you take advantage & learn from them!
