Should I consult my Guy Cousin?

I have a crush on a man that is my cousin best friend. We all grew up together, but my desire of crushing on my cousin best friend didn’t start until a few years ago. Well anyways, his best friend just recently messaged me via sm saying that he wants to see me, etc. we just started texting… do I need to consult my guy cousin regarding this?

I’m a little eerie at pursuing a dating relationship with his best friend if it does lead to that only bc of the closeness of our family that he too share, etc.
