Extreme Period Clotting (graphic photo warning) following PCOS related weight loss
Backstory —
So, I’ve had largeee clots my entire period experience, since I was 15/16 (I’m 33 now) I’ve had between grape and dollar coin and even on a bad day, dollar bill size (long and thin). No doctor would confirm my pcos diagnosis until my recent endocrinologist appt with a new doctor, he really listened and did all the hormone related bloodwork I wanted.
I’ve never had kids. No known miscarriages.
I’ve done testing for endometrial hyperplasia (negative) however my lining was still super thick as I missed periods for almost a year at a time from my suspected pcos weight gain / hormone imbalances. I’ve since been confirmed to have pcos “officially”.
My periods have NEVER had cramps until this year when they came back from their super hiatus after a small 45/50 lb weight loss. Pcos is super stubborn so weight loss is much slower than I’d like.
But I think I woke up a beast yall…
I had biopsies done — all negative for cancer. With hyperplasia / atypia also being negative…
What is going on???? Anyone else deal with this?
Is this just from my weight loss making this even more extreme than my usual extreme? My last doctor who did my biopsy said hey, if you still don’t want kids or don’t know yet, at 33 you shouldn’t have to live like this for 7-9 days every single month… and recommended I consider a hysterectomy.
I don’t know if I want kids (I am married) but I own a really thriving business and I don’t even think about wanting children until stuff like this is mentioned and I don’t want to lose the chance before I’ve navigated my feelings on it…
1) If you’ve lost weight (I’m still plenty plus size) and had extreme periods and clots after - please let me know and if it was only temporary…
2) if you’ve always had extreme clots too, also chime in so I know I’m not alone - I seem to be a unicorn to my doctors because they don’t want to believe I’ve been this way the whole dang time…
3) If you look at this photo and know more about clotting than I do — like — “this looks like endometriosis clotting“ or etc, please also speak up.
Added info: my doctors suspect endometriosis but none have felt a rush to test for that yet… they wanted to address the super thick lining of my uterus before my period came back first (it was at 19) — and now my period is back I’ve simply been told to go to ER if my clots are bigger than a grape… even after expressing that’s been my norm since day one…..
If you’re still here, THANK YOU. I’m really shy about this topic so getting it all out there is wild and really freeing… and truly yes, these are my normal obnoxious clots now. Normal is grape-dollar coin / dollar bill (long and thin) size for me. But this, I never had cramping and full blown feels like painful contractions until these……. And they’re heavy, very textured, lumpy and so painful to pass most times…
*** last update: I went to an endo and ALL my hormones are well within “normal” range. All my blood work is near perfect since losing 45-50lbs and even though I’m still in the low 300s I reversed my pre-diabetes and the only thing “off” is my vitamin D and my iron… both super super super low.
