Ovulation Question

I'm super confused because if I ovulated on the 24th but I'm on cycle day 27 on a 29 day cycle which is usual for me, then how do I know if I'm pregnant do I just wait to see if I get my period on cycle day 29? I know this is a stupid question. I'm just really confused about how all of this works because technically I'm only 8 or 9 dpo so I wouldn't be getting a positive pregnancy test yet but I'm also cd 27.
