Is this weird?

So il was at the park with my kids. A guy with his child comes along and we talk for a while and he was like my wife and I have been looking for play dates for our child. 
I said if it's ok with your wife I wouldn't mind my daughter needs friends as well. 
I feel bad when I think on it now but I feel it's just playmates with the kids we exchanged numbers but I'm thinking of deleting it now. 
Am I overreacting? I was only thinking of playdstes with the kids and only if his wife is present as well.. 
Idk this is probably a horrible idea. @Leslie- thats how i feel@Unicorns: im not trying to break up anyones relationship or anything . I thought it was innocent bc im just looking for friends for my child but after asking my friends they said its inappropriate and one is married so i take their word.@G- it would be at another public place. Everyone is essentially a stranger until you get to know them. It would never be at a secluded place or their house.

I wouldn’t ever schedule a play date with a stranger I met at a park one time. Man, woman, doesn’t matter. Maybe I’m just weird, but stranger danger.

It’s might be totally innocent and he legitimately wants a play date. You’ll realize quickly if that’s not the case. Don’t feel bad, your mind was in the right place.

I’d be less worried about any romantic connotations and more worried about strange men in parks wanting to hang out with my child. Delete, avoid. Go to some parent child groups and meet some nice people and children there for your child to play with.

Sounds like he mentioned his wife off the bat so I don’t think you have anything to worry about. But for safety reasons if you’re going to have play dates, definitely do it in public. And I’d ask if his wife is coming too

Depending on how old your kid is a great way to make friends can be through sport or extra curricular activities… my daughter is home schooled and she has made such amazing friends through gymnastics, baseball etc….

Just my perspective, but my husband would never do this. Even if our kids got along so well. He would never exchange numbers with another woman, especially with the intent of meeting up. He MIGHT give her MY phone number and not take hers if the kids REALLY get along, but even that is a stretch hypothetical situation that has never happened. And he would never ever be the one to approach the woman. 
I don’t trust it at all, but I don’t trust most men. To me it says “are you willing to hang out with me despite me being married?” And that just opens the door.

I don't have any kid's but I have 6 nephew's, 1 niece and 1 great niece. Some thought they were my kid's because I told them to be nice to other kid's that are at the park because I was there. Some parent's thought they were my kid's.

I just think its all strange anyway, so a stranger with a kid and then talking about playdate..im just a paranoid person and i dont trust easily, even to conversate with a stranger regarding my son id be like "get away"
