UTI question: half of people are walking around with untreated bladder infections and don't know it! Why aren't doctors doing more about it?

I read somewhere that over half of people have a UTI and don't know it. Why isn't this more widely talked about?! As women our concerns get brushed off all the time and this is just one more thing. I felt awful for days, coughing not feeling great. I went to the hospital and boom... It was a urine infection. Got antibiotics and started feeling better almost right away.

If it's so common, why don't doctors look for this and treat it?!
