Sibling names too similar?

My 1st born is Emily, we also call her Emmie. We’re considering Ella for baby #2, nickname Ellie. What do you think? Is Emily & Ella (Emmie & Ellie) too similar? They will be 1 year apart. Due in 8 weeks!!! 
Our other option would be Olivia, but we are struggling with how popular it is and the amount of syllables. We also both love nicknames and aren’t exactly 100% on Livie or Liv. Any thoughts?

They sound different enough with people who know them I think it would be fine. I'm with how close they are.in age though I could see themvgetting called the wrong names if they contuine tobgo by nicknames in school. Teachers, staff, coaches, etc I could see accidentally calling them the wrong name. My husbands name is Jason. His brother a year older is Jordan. They have both talked about how often teachers or extended family would call them the wrong name or switch their names on accident. By middle school my bil started going by Branner (his middle name) as they were getting tired of it. So could be 100% fine but also there is a chance of name confusion.

The actual names aren’t bad. The nicknames are too similar. 
I have a Kenna Rae who is more often called Kenni and my sister in law recently named her daughter Kenzie Renae. And people are forever mixing up the names and getting confused. 
So Emmie and Ellie are definitely too similar in my opinion.
