Is celebrating childs birthday a day before bad luck?

Or just plain superstición . My kids bday is on Sunday but I made plans to take her out and later that night cut her a cake with family and some friends nothing crazy, but then my mom calls me almost yelling at me on how bad that is . I honestly don’t see a problem with it. Have any of you celebrated your kids early ?

Almost no one celebrates their birthday on their birthday. Parties typically fall on weekends because that’s when people are free. We do whatever dinner the kids want on their actual birthday with the desert of their choice. Then party with friends/family or an experience on the weekend before/after. I thought most do that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve never heard of that superstition before, but I don’t believe in any anyway. I’ve celebrated birthdays both before and after the actual day and have never received “bad luck.”

My husband and his family are sticklers about that. That you cant celebrate something before it happens because then youre counting your chickens before theyve hatched so to speak. While I dont share that feeling, I do try to respect it. We will celebrate days later if needed.

My MIL tells me all the time that it’s bad luck. I usually take the kids somewhere before their birthday but I cut the cake on their actual birthday. If it’s big birthdays we celebrate the weekend after the birthday. I think it’s just supersition.

Just a superstition. Do what you have to do when you have time. 
We celebrated our daughter’s 1st birthday a month or two early because we were moving to another state before her birthday. We wanted all our friends and family there.
