Laid off? - Job related question

My job recently laid me off to part time due to finances and said it’s possible that it will be temporary but… financially I’m making 1/2 my salary now so I’m panicking.

Then I was told to let them know when I am ready to come back full time. I’m confused about what that means, I want to come back full time now. I’m thinking it could be more than finances but idk. Has anyone gone through something like this? I don’t want to leave because I love my job but I’m scared if I stay, they may never put me back to full time.
