Toddler Acne?

My little guy will be 3 in April. He’s been sick on and off the last several weeks, but nothing worse than a minor cough and runny nose. The last few days, he’s gotten what looks like some pretty intense facial acne. It doesn’t come and go, so that tells me it’s likely not an allergy. He had really bad baby acne, but that went away around 3 months old. Could it be associated with him being slightly sick? Do we need to see a pediatrician for a hormone check? Anyone else experience this in the toddler?
